Title: hello everybody. I'm new
Description: annular ligament
Katie - March 19, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
I have a fell pony (Loubey Lou) who over the last year has had two annular ligament ops on her front leg :(
Sadly, she is still lame although ridden on vet's advice.
Anyone had any experience of this. All suggestions welcome.

Katie,
Have you tried magnotherapy wraps on your pony's legs? Certainly one company who do them (Bioflow) give you a 90 day money back guarantee, so if they don't help her you return them and get 85% of your money back. They are used in professional yards and help in lots of cases. Just Google Bioflow or Ecoflow which is the company name and you should find a distributor near you.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. :thanx: I will persue both. Loubey Lou was a real gem and did a bit of everything. I had her broken to drive and she showed under saddle. What a versatile breed the fell ponies are.
She has been lame almost two years now and it is such a pain :(
The first op did not work and the 2nd op was in August and more invasive, but still not sound. I explored the possibility of having her put in foal but no way was she going to let a stallion that close!! :buck:

Hello Katie and welcome to FPF. :welcome2: Glad to have you with us. Best of luck with Louby Lou's leg. Will you try putting her in foal again?

I would love to put Loubey in foal but I think the stallion owner has had enough of her. I live in South Lincs and there is a fantastic stallion at Louth. The owner really should advertise him at stud. The first year she wnt on her hols for nearly eight weeks and the second year, she came back after three weeks as a lost cause! :(
I am thinking of maybe another breed of stallion as there is a lovely stud near me with first class facilities. :dunno:

:welcome2: To Fell Pony Fans!!! :welcome2:
I would be willing to give a different stallion a try. Sometimes the mare's not keen on the beau we pick for them.
She's a lovely, lovely girl. Had a good laugh over the matching rug and granddaughter's shirt! Too funny!! Pink certainly suits Loubey Lou
