 hi, I have a fell gelding who is rising fours years, any suggestions on makes of rugs and saddles which fit the broad type best?

:welcome2: to the board. We had a discussion a while back about saddles so this might help.... http://fellponyfans.com/index.php?showtopic=185

Not much help on the rug front I'm afraid, mine all live out unrugged 24/7. I do have a couple of spare rhino rugs which seem to fit my girls. I'm sure other members will have some ideas...... :)

Look forward to hearing more about your fell. What is his name? :pony:

:welcome2: to fell pony fans Lady Henrietta :)

Rhino and Fal are supposed to be very good, usually have plenty of neck/shoulder room. To be honest though, I would measure your boy...[although he could still be growing in width more than height at this age], and give those measurements to respective rug companies and see if they can meet your requirements :dunno:

Hope you enjoy the board, looking forward to hearing more about your gelding?

hi everyone,

thanks for advice on rugs. My fell does not wear rugs at the moment but later on I plan to ride and show more so was thinking more of a lightweight for keeping him just a bit cleaner and drier! His sire is Lunesdale Henry from the Restar Stud, his dam is a Restar mare. He is very cheeky and strong at the moment and constantly trying to be boss! Any advice would be welcome. :thanx:

Restar Lord Henry........is that your boy Lady Henrietta??

lady henrietta - February 19, 2007 10:03 PM (GMT)
:pony: yep, thats my pony, do you know of him? What do you have?

Gina - February 19, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
 it was a matter of deduction Lady Henrietta, I have all the stud books :goodvibes:

Would love to hear more about your laddie though, have you got any piccies we can see?? How long have you had him for, does he look like his sire or dam?

forgot to say thanks for the info on the saddles, I found that quite useful. I am at the moment riding (only twice a week for twenty minutes) in a barefoot treeless till he matures. :buck:
